AI stock pickers: what they actually pick

No AI can reliably tell you which stock will go up. What AI stock tools can do is narrow the field, explain a company quickly and react to news. This page explains how each approach works, the marketing claims to be wary of and how six apps handle stocks.

Free on iOS 16.4+, Android and the web. Not financial advice. Trading involves risk of loss.

Three approaches

How AI tools pick stocks

From your thesis

You say what you believe; the AI finds companies that fit. Supertake builds portfolios this way.

From other investors

The app copies disclosed holdings of funds, experts or politicians. Autopilot does this, with filing delays.

From the news

The AI links a headline to the tickers it affects and explains why. Capacitr’s Signals feed does this.

Red flags in AI stock-picker marketing

  • Backtested returnsA backtest is a simulation. Some apps warn their displayed returns may be simulated.
  • Win rates without lossesA 70% win rate means nothing without the size of the losses.
  • “The AI found it first”Ask for the timestamp and the source, then check it.
  • No regulator namedIf an app gives personalized picks, ask whether it is a registered adviser.

About our app

How Capacitr works

Capacitr, our app, links stock headlines to tokenized US stocks on Robinhood Chain (EU/EEA) and Base, and waits for you to confirm. Based on its App Store listing and support page.

Self-custodial

Capacitr is not an exchange, does not hold your funds and is never the counterparty to your trades. You approve a trading key for your own wallet, and every fill links to the venue’s explorer.

Asks before it signs

The assistant can suggest a trade and fill in the ticket. Nothing is placed until you confirm, and Capacitr tells you what is sent to its AI providers before your first question.

Check availability before you deposit. Hyperliquid is not available in the US or Canada. New Polymarket positions are not available in the US, the UK and other restricted countries. Robinhood Chain is available in the EU/EEA only.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the best AI stock picker?

For turning your own thesis into a stock portfolio, Supertake. For copying disclosed portfolios, Autopilot. For connecting your own AI to a full brokerage, tastytrade. For news-to-ticker signals, Capacitr, which publishes this guide.

Can AI predict stock prices?

Not reliably. AI can process information quickly, but prices react to new information no model has yet.

Are AI stock picks financial advice?

Only advice from a registered adviser, given to you personally, is financial advice. Autopilot’s portfolios come from an SEC-registered adviser.

Can I buy real stocks through Capacitr?

Capacitr reaches tokenized US stocks on Robinhood Chain, available in the EU/EEA only, and Base. It is not a stock brokerage.
